Hao Zhang
I am Hao Zhang, a Ph.D. candidate in Traffic Information Engineering and Control at Shanghai Maritime University and an engineer at the CMA Meteorological Routeing Centre of the China Meteorological Administration. My work sits at the intersection of marine meteorology and intelligent navigation. I develop weather-aware route-optimization methods that help ships avoid tropical cyclones, limit speed loss in heavy seas, and sail more safely and efficiently — from busy commercial lanes to the emerging Arctic passages. I am equally at home turning these methods into reliable, day-to-day forecasting services for the shipping industry.
